We arrived at ZionNational Park at around 10 am (after a 2 hour drive from BryceCanyon). Zion is probably three times bigger than the BryceCanyon and is a center for Rock climbing, Hiking and Backcountry Hiking. There are seven popular trails with round-trip times of half an hour to four hours, we chose two trails, the HiddenCanyon and the Lower Emerald Pool which gave us great overlook of various Canyons. We found two day-hikes very interesting, “The Narrows†and “The Subway†for breathtaking views, however since both routes require wading up the river, sometimes even swimming through several deep pools of cold water, we agreed not to choose these hikes due to freezing water temperatures .
My fiance at the time and I hiked the Zion Narrows in July of 2001, we did the 2 day sleep in the canyon super long hike through ankle deep water to chest deep water. It was my first such trek and it was amazing, hard and long. As we entered the narrows portion of the long trek my fiance asked me to marry him. I would love to do it again. Recently we found a website that offers amazing treks to places in your backyard and far away that we didn’t know existed on http://www.iheights.com. We have 2 treks planned for this summer. Have fun and happy trails.
