After driving more than 4500 miles and being on the road for 27 days, we finally arrived at our destination city San Diego. It was an amazing time and adventure, looking back at our blog it is hard to believe that two weeks ago we were still skiing in Salt Lake City whereas today we were walking on the beach. The big variety of this trip (snow, ice, rain, desert, mountains, and sun) was truly fascinating and a life-time experience and we are happy that we chose this route, even though it was sometimes not easy to drive on snowy and icy roads.
Besides our flat tire we didn’t experience any other obstacles, the car is running well so far and hopefully will lead us through many other cities in the future.
I hope you had fun reading our travel blog and we will try to post some pictures once in a while to keep you posted!

Our first stop was Malibu Beach which is famous for the sandy beaches and the home of countless movie stars. We then drove to Santa Monica where we took a long walk on the most popular pier and beach promenade, popular for its many skaters. After lunch, we drove to LA where we stopped at the Hollywood Blvd with its famous Hollywood walk of fame and the Grauman’s Chinese Theater. They had the movie premiere of Meet the Robinsons. At the Chinese Theater, they offer many Hollywood stars tours where they show you the most famous houses in Beverly Hills and they also sell star maps for $5 on the streets. However, with lots of research we found out that this is a tourist trap and that most homes they show you are not the actual star homes but just homes they make up. However, Chris had some inside connections on where to find the actual address listings. We found the house on Beverly Hills where Brad Pitt and ex wife Jennifer Aniston used to live in, what a great view they had from the top of the Hills.
Our last stop was Huntington Beach which is known for its long 8.5 miles beach, mild climate and excellent surfing. We strolled along the pier and beach; they had lots of restaurants and shops and seemed a very crowded but fun place.

We spend the morning at the beach and pier of Santa Barbara. Many things remind us of Florida, the beach, weather (however, it doesn’t get so humid), people, nice cars…After we came back from our beach walk; we discovered that we had a flat tire! I probably didn’t mention it before, but the best buy that we ever did was our navigation system , you can ask him anything and he finds it. This time we needed to find a tire shop, and there it was, the “Pep Boys†were only minutes away (thanks Garmin). We left the car at the shop and made a very interesting discovery: we found out that the manager of the body shop has lived in Backnang, Germany for three years (the city where I went to school to), sometimes it is amazing how small the world is. What a day!
